New Year Goals

10th February 2021 by Di

Thinking of New Year Goals?

Tentatively 25th September 2021 is the Blue Lake Challenge  https://www.bluelake24hr.com. As many 5.5km laps as you want to do in 24hours, so something for everyone (some people only run one lap).  Al is really keen for the club to go to this event, so Al’s challenge to you is (a) put this in your diary, and (b) set yourself a personal goal for this event (be it 5.5km or 160km). You don’t have to tell anyone your distance, it doesn’t cost anything to enter, and it will be great fun supporting each other.  Let Al know if you are interested and we will try to secure a spot to put up a club gazebo as our aid station for each lap. Rotorua has lots of other things to do to make it a fun weekend for everyone.

Kai Iwi Triathlon, March 20th… https://www.sportnorthlandevents.co.nz/copy-of-kaitaia-run-walk One of Striders‘ favourite events for all abilities.  We’ll set up a ‘base camp’ at Kai Iwi for the Saturday event where people can base from before and after the event. We’ll look to have a shared lunch once the last Striders member is in so if that sounds like a bit of you then bring a plate.

There’s a lot of training going on at the moment with these events in mind so if anyone wants to jump in, there’s regular swimming, cycling and running, and combinations of all, going on most days. Just get hold of me (Bill Miles 021 952 406) if you want to join in.

KERIKERI HALF MARATHON 2020

1st August 2020 by Di

Saturday 21st November 2020

It’s that time of year again – count down to when the Kerikeri Half Marathon hits town! That means if you are a beginner or improver this is the perfect opportunity to get those trainers on. The Kerikeri Half is mainly downhill so a Personal Best is always on the cards.

Join us on Saturday mornings 8.00, Stone Store basin car park – Landing Road side for a 5k or 8k run or walk along the Falls track.  We are a friendly bunch of runners of all abilities, from walkers to ultra-runners.  There is always someone to help you along or give you a bit of competition.

Northland Waste Kerikeri Half Marathon

The Northland Waste Kerikeri Half Marathon is on Saturday, 21 November 2020 and is an iconic feature on the Northland events calendar. Starting in Okaihau the 21.1km course makes its way through a rolling country side to finish in the centre of town at the Kerikeri Domain.

Stick around for the Kerikeri Street Party where you can sample wonderful food, wine and many other local specialties or just dance the evening away

There are many training plans on line, this one is good for beginners

Striders Clubroom Closure Announcement for Alert Level 2

13th May 2020 by Di

The Kerikeri Striders Multi Sports Committee has decided that the clubroom will NOT be re-opening under Alert Level 2.  The Club takes the responsibility of the health & safety of all our members very seriously and sincerely regrets that it is not possible to re-open at this stage. The decision was not taken lightly but primarily because the clubroom is unmanned and unsupervised at all times. For this reason it is not possible to control and manage either the number of people using the facility or ensure that all surfaces are sufficiently clean and sanitized at all times ready for members use.

We thank you for your continued patience and understanding at this time and we will keep members informed as to the re-opening date as soon as it is finalised.

Kia Kaha, be safe, be kind
